Anubis, an Egyptian god, was created to stand erect on a steel stand, with a scale beside it. On the scale is a feather (in steel) and a heart (in bronze). A second copy resides outdoors. This sculpture was built on a steel armature, sculpted in clay and molded in rubber for two copies only. Anubis, is the god of funerary rites, protector of graves. The feather and heart are symbolic of all the good and bad deeds, and was needed for judgement in the afterlife.
I must add that working figuratively again was a delight, and brought back my memories of working with live models over 30 years ago, although this time, I had no model, just a small photograph for inspiration.
