A collection of wrenches, gathered over 5 years, were welded in juxtaposition to one another with no plan in mind. Inspired by Mondrian’s painting Broadway Boogie Woogie, reinforced for me, to keep concepts of depth and balance in mind while slowly letting the interaction of the parts came alive and relate to one another. Once the piece was mounted on an elegant bar, I could step back and see the simplicity in design. Heart Wrenching or even Heart Wrenched (I like both titles), relates to the topic of love where space is needed between parts and areas, is a collaboration, and beauty discovered from the front, back and the inside.
